Engagement sessions are an excellent way for us to get to know each other and for you two to get a chance to feel comfortable in front of the camera. You will get familiar with my posing workflow which makes it that much easier the day of your wedding! You can use these photos for save the dates, invitations, and for extra memories of this special time in your lives. They also make for an excellent guest book for your guests to sign on your wedding day!
Choosing the Location
Location is incredibly important for the outcome of your photos. Is there a place that is special to you? Is there a place that you have always wanted to visit.? The options are endless, and I have so many recommendations and ideas!
Engagement Session Outfit Tips
It’s so important that you dress like yourself and that you feel comfortable during your session. If you feel amazing it translates to the outside and you will look amazing! Aim for natural, earthy tones and neutrals, as they photograph the best. Clothing with lots of movement is also recommended, to make for some epic photos! I recommend avoiding big patterns, bright and vibrant colors, and logos. Pinterest is a great place to look for engagement outfit inspiration!
But what if we are awkward in front of the camera?
The first few minutes of a photoshoot always feel a little bit awkward, but then I promise you will start to have fun, loosen up, and have a good time! This is one of the huge reasons why an engagement session before your wedding is so important. It gives you a little bit of experience with posing and having your picture taken before your wedding day. That way when your wedding day comes you will be naturals in front of the camera! Also I will always guide you and give you props and poses with lots of movement, fun, and laughter so that the images have a more natural feel to them. We will do lots of fun poses and also move into some more deep, soulful poses to get a wide range of shots. It’s important when you go into your photo shoot to have zero expectations and to just go with the flow. Embrace what comes, whether it be rain, wind, laughter – whatever unfolds! Every shoot and every couple is unique and there is no set way for a photoshoot to happen.
Save the Dates & Invitations
I love when my couples use their images from their engagement session for save the dates and wedding invitations. It’s such a great way to show off the photos we took together to all of your family and friends. And such a great way to show the love You have for one another and get people excited for your wedding celebration!
Wedding Guest Book
Engagement photos can also be used for a wedding guest book. I love to put together an album of all of the images from your session that guests can sign as they arrive to your wedding. This is such a cute way in my opinion to remember all of the people that you invited to celebrate with you on your wedding day.
